What is Ideaware?

Ideaware is a similar concept to shareware.  You download a program and try it out, and if you like it, you licence a copy.  Ideaware differs from shareware, because instead of sending money in exchange for a licence, you send an idea for a computer program that you would like to see written.

You can send in any kind of idea - it could be for a game, or for a utility, or maybe there is some software you already have which doesn't do everything you want it to.  enable welcomes all ideas.

Why Ideaware?

But why would anyone write software in exchange for ideas instead of money ?   The answer is simple. A good idea is worth something.

So, you say, I send you an idea which makes you a millionaire, and all I get out of it is a license to a crappy little utility or game that I could have had for free ?   Well, you could look at it that way.  If you think your idea will make you a millionaire, then you can get a compiler and write the program yourself.  Or maybe your idea is good enough to sell to a big company...go ahead and try your luck.  You may get rich...or you may get taken for a ride.

The last option is that you send your idea to an ideaware author who you think writes good programs (that's us!).  If we like your idea, we will turn it into a program.  We will have a good product, and you will have the program that you want (some ideaware authors offer free licences for their software to the person who first gave them the idea).  Its a win-win situation.  And to top it all off you saved $20 on a shareware registration. If your idea is simple then there is a very good chance that once your idea has been programmed it will be released as ideaware.

What If I Don't
Have Any Ideas?

Then you don't licence your ideaware.  It's like having no money to licence shareware - you don't pay for the shareware that you are using.
